Our Story
The Church began because a mission - minded lady and man by the names of Miss Alice Nix and Mr. Jess Erwin loved lost children. They listened to the voice of the Lord and together built a little mission in the year 1946, located in the Sonoraville-Fairmount area. In the early 1960's the Lord sent Bro. Robert V. (Sammy) Allen to the mission. One Sunday after the service, Bro. Allen went home with the superintendent of the mission, Bro. Hubert Goss and his family for lunch. In the afternoon as Bro. Allen was praying, the Lord burdened him that the mission was to be constituted into a Missionary Baptist Church
Bro. Allen visited Miss Nix
and told her what God had laid upon his heart. Miss Nix's only response was "he did?" She then began to correspond with Bro. Allen through letters and on October 2, 1961, the Concord Missionary Baptist Church was born in the perfect will of God. Bro. Allen has been the only pastor the Church has ever had.
From the beginning Concord Baptist Church has always had a missions heart. The Faith Promise Mission Program began in 1982 and today the Church is supporting over 300 missionaries. "The Sun never sets on the ministry of Concord Baptist Church" to God be the Glory!!
Through the Leadership of the Holy Spirit Bro. Allen started Faith Baptist Camp in 1970. The Camp is strong and still going for the glory of God with three weeks of meetings each year. Faith Baptist Camp has blessed many saints, and many souls have been saved, many preachers have surrendered to the call and many missionaries have been sent.
After years of prayer the Lord permitted the Faith Baptist Institute and Bible College to began in 1989. Graduating classes have produced missionaries to Alaska, England, China, Canada, and Germany as well as Pastors and Evangelist all for God's Glory.
As God's Church moves forward in the perfect will of God may we all join together in "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ"
Even so come, Lord Jesus
